Well, not a great start to my Betshoot tipping career, but there are more matches left this week and still many for the remainder of the year so hopefully will post my first winning preview today. 

As with all the other matches this round, this one should be an intriguing contest. The Bulldogs made a big charge in 2006 to make the finals with a young team and were expected to improve further in 2007, however with some injuries and lack of height they fell off the pace to finish 13th. They have an amazing array of talented players all heading in to their 4/5/6 year of senior football and if they can stay on the park, I expect major improvement. They play a fast-paced running style of game, not dissimilar to Golden State in the NBA, lots of offence and not to much defence. This opens up opportunities for high scoring games and I expect that today, especially given Adelaide coach Neil Craig has insisted that the Crows will be a more attacking team this year.

The two reasons I see for Adelaide being the favourite in this match is the poor finish to last season that saw the Bulldogs lose 6 and draw 1 of their last 7 matches, while Adelaide have been good during the pre-season making it through to the NAB cup Grand Final where it was beaten by St.Kilda. The Crows have looked good so far however the Bulldogs have a new ruckman (Ben Hudson who was previously with the Crows), and should hold the edge in the ruck which will allow the Bulldogs midfield to get on top.

Perhaps more important than game style/ match ups is that Bulldogs favourite son Brad Johnson will play his 300th match. That is a major milestone that not many footballers ever reach and teams almost always lift for the occasion.

I like the Bulldogs hunger for this match and given it is a major milestone match I will go with them to win on their home ground with medium stakes, as there won’t be much between the teams. I really like the total match score of this match to be over 185.5 as well which is offered at Betfair, I can’t find any more total match score over/under at any other bookmaker.
