I don’t understand all the fuss about this game here. Marseille lost to amateurs Carquefou in the French cup on Wednesday in one of the biggest upset in cup history and now everybody’s thinking that world beaters Sochaux will escape with a win tonight at the Velodrome…
You could feel some irony, but the thing is that that kind of upset have already occurred and be sure that this is not the last time that an elite side will get kicked out of the cup by amateurs.
In my opinion, this is not a reason not to back the hosts here. After being humiliated you can be sure that the players will want to be forgiven and show their best in front of their fans. And we gotta trust them since @home, Marseille is in a great run, winning their 7 previous meetings in fashion while displaying an attractive and offensive footie in which Cissé, Valbuena and Niang scored a lot of goals (and missing a lot of clear chances too). The phoceans will miss long term defender Rodriguez who is replaced by Can with Mbami moveing into the starting line up, while Mamadou Niang is doubtful and its Akale who’ll start.
Sochaux is for sure a team that can’t be underestimated, since to me they don’t belong to that relegation zone, latest results have showed that as they could win @Strasbourg and @Toulouse. They gotta thanks Turkish sensation Erding who is simply playing amazing scoring a couple of vital goals lately. Important defender Brechet is out and this is quite a big blow since Marseille has been scoring a lot for 2 months and the other defenders do not seem to be very trustable against such an offensive powerhouse.
All in all, I truly believe that the odds we are offered by Pinnacle should be taken as they represent nice value in my eyes. Marseille has only the championship to play now, and is aiming at getting to the top 3 as soon as possible. Their home form makes me think that they are going to win this game. Motivation is bigger, talent is bigger, and Marseille to cover the -1AH is the call.
