New Zealand England
Test Match
The 2nd day of the 2nd Test gets underway in an hour or so with New Zealand leading 1-0 in the best of 3 series after England crumbled in the final day of the opening test when all 3 outcomes were possible.
After the opening day which swung both in the favour of both side at one stage it ended out being a pretty even day. England resume on 291 for 5 with Ambrose just 3 away from his 1st test ton. The pitch offered a little bit to the bowlers if you bowled in the right areas but generally pitches lend to flatten out after the opening day, One would expect England to bang the heavy roller on this and nuckle down and hope to reach a score of around 400 or so.
New Zealand with a 1-0 lead in the series will be more than happy to draw this match and should, barring something strange, be batting last on this pitch. If Possible New Zealand when the enter there 1st innings will be more than happy to bat england out of the game.
Unless we see 1 of the side skittled out cheaply during this match it could become quite difficult for England to set a realistic target, We need to remember that with 1 more test to play England wont want to lose this one and at worst will want to go into the final test at 0-1 with a chance of drawing the series.
2.50 looks a pretty decent price on the draw and i can only see it getting shorter as the test wears on, England have made bowling changes and i wouldnt be surprised to see 400+ for both sides 1st knock, The pitch doesn't appear to have any demons in it......yet.
Im backing the draw, any rain delays with be a bonus too.
