Werder lost the first game 0:2 because of two big mistakes by Wiese. Really terrible mistakes. But it could have even ended with a 3:0 loss, had Rangers scored after another mistake in the last minutes of the game, this time by Naldo. As a result Werder face a very tough challenge on Thursday evening.

Werder actually played a good game in Glasgow. They didn’t create big chances but they were very confident and didn’t let Rangers control the game. That’s why I believe they can still progress. Rangers have a big advantage and they can defend well but as far as the class of the players is concerned Werder have the advantage here. The home team will definitely by without Boubacar Sanogo, Petri Pasanen, Frank Baumann and Ivan Klasnic. Still they will have a good starting 11, led by Diego, and the crowd behing them. The players know it’s not going to be easy but say that you can score two goals even in the last 20 minutes. So they will do everything to do it.

I think Rangers will field a similar starting 11 to the one just a week ago. I believe they will want to make it very tight at the back and they will set it as their priority and they will look for the away goal just occasionally as they know Bremen can be a goal scoring machine and could hit back on the counters. This should give Werder more ball posession and time to create good goal scoring chances.

I’m backing Werder to win this by at least two goals. It won’t be easy but it surely is doable for them.
