Pompeys are a very strong team, specially at home.
They bought really good players on winter market, such as Defoe, Diarra, etc.
For this match Striker Jermain Defoe is set to return for Portsmouth after being cup-tied for the game against Preston last weekend. This is a great new, and Pompeys now have Defoe, Baros and Kanu to play in front.
Goalkeeper David James is expected to shrug off a stomach virus and maintain his ever-present Premier League record. Also good new.
Portsmouth is now on the middle of the table, but only 6 points behind the 4th place, wich means champions league.
The team is more stable, the structure are better and the results are coming.
On the other side is Sunderland, fighting to not relegate. A clearly home team, that won a huge number of home matches, and lose all the away matches. The miserable away record is 0-2-11.
We canīt also forget the defensive problems that this Sunderland tem have, specially away from home.
For this match Andy Reid could make a first start for Sunderland after working hard on his fitness since joining from Charlton.
Grant Leadbitter is also in contention to take on Pompey after his recovery from a broken toe, while Dwight Yorke has shaken off a calf problem.
Normally Pompeys are very strong at home, and they should win this.
