A bit risky to get involved in this stage of the competition, the teams come after the winter break, a lot of things could have changed meanwhile, so I prefer to see what will happen in this first leg and come with more selections in the next stages. However, there's one match I really like for today, and I'm about to take all the risks and get on Sporting Lisboa when they face Swiss Basel.

The reason is obvious. The Portuguesse side has been playing very well in Champions League, it's a big mistery why they didn't go through if you ask me. Their national title is like lost I guess, so the UEFA Cup is like a last chance for them to snatch some perfomace this season and fill with joy their fans. About Basel. I'm not an expert of the Swiss football, but I've been watching these teams in Europe for a while, and the general impression is not a good one. Looks like the level has lowered, could be lack of concern regarding this competition, but it's a fact that they've been struggling badly of late. I remember very well the Hamburger-Basel match, I was so naive to back the under, I really thought they can easily play well defensively and block the spaces against a Hamburger side that was playing for nothing. And I was WRONG!! Despite the full time result, 1-1, the Germans have had loads of chances and should have won by at least 3 goals if being honest. Now they go to Portugal, how on Earth are they supposed to withstand with this play? Please NOTE that Sporting have a full squad available, and are fully focussed for this one. Don't see a reason for hosts to take the lead and defend the result either, so I'm inloved by this offer.
