ATP - Novak Djokovic vs Australian Open Winner Tennis betting preview

Novak Djokovic, 20-years old youngster is back after last season’s end which was bad for him because tiredness of a long season and some minor injuries. So far no losses for Djokovic this season. AO started with convincing games by him. Easy draw so far makes sure he should be fresh. He has all it takes to win the tournaments because his mental strenght combined to his skillfull and powerfull game. The hardcourts are his favourite surfaces. 2006 his record on the hardcourts were 6-5 (all games 48-21), 2007 32-5 (lost for Federer three times and all games 68-19). There should be no doubt his skills as a player has gone forward because his young age and he won’t need a big developing to be the best ATP-player on the hard surface and we’ll see where his real stage is at the moment only when he meets some top players.

If Djokovic advantages to the final he faces there Tsonga, Nieminen, Youzhny or Nadal. Nadal on this surface shouldn’t be too hard for him and against Nieminen or Tsonga any result but a win’d be a big surprise. I think Youzhny has the biggest chances to get to play to the final and he has played some impressing tennis so far, leads Djokovic 2-1 in their meetings but for me Djokovic is starting to be too talented to lose in such a important game against Youzhny. Youzhny surely has a chance but needs to keep his head cool what is hard for him if his opponent is able to push him enough.

The first thing to do for Djokovic is to go to the final and that is easier said than done. Today he meets homeland’s Hewitt who has a long match under his belt. Hewitt is a fighter but seems easy for Djokovic. After that he’s facing the winner from Ferrero-Ferrer match. If Ferrero surprises Ferrer, it’s hard for me seeing Ferrero winning Djokovic because in their last meeting Djokovic was able to win Ferrero even Djokovic was in bad form at that time. Against Ferrer it’d be harder. Ferrer won him at MastersCup where Djokovic lost all his matches and all meetings are 3-2 for Ferrer. Djokovic’s attacking gamestyle should be too much for Ferrer whom Djokovic won at US-Open in straight sets last year but after that it seemed like Ferrer found out how to play on the faster surfaces. If this match is going to happen I think the odds are going to favour Djokovic too much but he should be a nice favourite.

It seems like Djokovic has relatively easy way to semifinals where he meets Cilic, Blake, Berdych or Federer. Berdych shouldn’t be a big problem for Federer who has won their last five matches, Blake is owned by Federer and Cilic’s chances against Federer won’t look too good neither. Anything can happen but if Djokovic advantages to the semifinals his most likely opponent is Federer. Federer leads 5-1 in their meetings and is going to be favourite this time too. Still the four matches between them last year showed how bad opponent Djokovic can be for Federer. He isn’t getting anything for free and facing the fact Federer hasn’t given yet a reason to think he is in great form this match can be a match where anything can happen.
