Super Rugby League vs Long Term Picks
I'm so bored in Hospital right now that i've spent the whole morning looking at the upcomming Super League season and have come up with a few long term bets to ponder over.

I have 3 of them for you all,I will post my reasons why here and post the other two Long term Bets without an explanation in their own tips,The 3 Bets are for Catalans to win the Wooden Spoon,Leeds Rhinos to go back toback and win the SL again and for a surprise look..Warrington to win the regular season, the last one is a long shot but it has it's chances I think.

I'll begin with Catalans to win the wooden Spoon...

I really was hopefull that the Catalans would be sucessfull in the SL mainly because people tend to forget that at one stage the French Rugby League Side were very strong and used to beat everyone including the Australians, times have changed and now and for a while the French side have been weakend mainly due to there not having a decent domestic comp and the French Rugby Union taking French League players,Catalans were meant to be the saviours for them and to rebuild the game in France but players for some reason do not want to sign with the Catalans and it will be their downfall this season, this season they cannot be saved and if they finish in the bottom two they will be let go to the perils of Relagation and from there who knows what will happen to them, they have lost Stacey Jones to retirement and have only recruited Dane Carlaw which is good but not really,Carlaw is a spent force and if Catalans are looking for him to carry their forward pack they will be sadly mistaken,Catalans do not have the fire power to win many games and if people are looking for CastleFord or Hull KR to be the whipping boys they will be sadly mistaken there also I think,Castleford and Hull KRhave recruited very well this year and look to be very strong,in fact those tweo sides with the Wildcats might just throw a spanner into a few sides plans if their opponents don't show up ready to play,For me Catatlans are the weakest of all the Super League contenders and as the season wears on that will become more and more exposed, take Catalans to finish Bottom of the SL in 2008.

The Next Bet is for Leeds to repeat this season and win the SL Title in 2008...

Looking through the sides in the SL this season and Leeds and Saints stand out like beacons, however neither side has recruited anyone and if they have it's not noted anywhere,it's early days and players could appear on their rosters but at present Saints and Leeds look to be head and shoulders above the chasers with the exception of Warrington and even though I think Warrington can match these two sides this season I also think that when it comes down to the wire and Finals time is upon us it will be Saints or Leeds once again standing atop the Super League Mountain,Leeds have a good record against Saints and hold no fears in facing them, they have some brilliant hard working forwards and backs and when it comes to crunch time they can put their money where their mouths are,go through the match ups in these sides and a couple of areas look fantastic for either side, halfs and standoff and both sides have good talent and depth,Backlines and Leeds have more pace while Saints have more structure and straight hard runners, but for me the Rhinos forward pack is the key, they are a very hard nosed bunch and out in pressure situations they in most cases come out on top,to take Saints lighty is not a good thing and they will be the other cointender,in fact I gaureentee you all that this SL Season will be won by either of these two sides as the rest of the Comp have not recruited to well at all,IN FACT i'm willing to say that this will be the tightest SL in recent memory,Bradford,Wigan,Hull and Huddersfeld have not recruited very well at all and the bottom sides from past seasons and the new club have recruited very well with experience and clas in all the lower sides, the top clubs could well be pushed in a number of games and a few sides who you would'nt think can do anything may just surprise us this season, but back to Leeds and the SL Crown..My main reason in liking the Rhinos more than anything else is the coaching match ups,Daniel Anderson may have a good record but he has never coached at a club without talent.in fact he coached the Warriors to their one and only NRL Grand Final but for those in the know he did'nt do anything at all really, the talent was already at the Warriors in 2002 and all he did was step in at a time when the Warriors needed some direction and it worked but that was'nt due to the fact that he was a great coach, more it was down to the Warriors needed change and got it with him, they were already on their way up after making the finals the season before and Anderson was'nt the coach in 2001,Daniel Anderson in my mind is a decent coach who has a habbit of turning up at the right time.he has yet to win a Grand Final and has now lost two on different sides of the world, his coaching opponent has not won any but he has won a Tri nations with the Kiwis at a stage when really we had no right to,Brian Mc'Cleenan is the new coach at the Rhinos and he will make an impact,he is a very down to earth guy,I know him and have played under him and he is a great motivator and gives you the feeling that you cannot lose,he will bring that same attitude to the Rhinos this season and I doubt they will lose many games at all. They have retained their Grand Final winning squad from last season and with Bluey at the helm I am of the opinion that they will repeat this year,Sorry Toffee Mate.

Now this is the roughy one but it has it's chances and at the odds it's at it's worthe throwing a couple of $100 on it and kicking back and watching how they go this season,it's for the Warrington Wolves to finally go a season without injurys and actually remain competitive for the entire season and win the Regular Season....

Warrington are the perenial under acheivers, they have had great sides in years gone by but have not taken advantage of it,this year with the other clubs not buying to well I think it will be a 3 horse race between the Wolves,Saints and Rhinos, but I do think that the Wolves have recruited very well and will make a big impact during the regular season at least and could even come out on top, last year the Wolves started well and fell away at the end, they havd alot of injurys during the season and could'nt maintain or find cohesion during the year, but they have brought a few players this season who can and will make an impact in the SL,they have a very good Forward pack in fact in my opinion one of the best in the league and they will not take a backwards step to anyone,a few names to watch and those out there will know are Vinnie Anderson,Briers, the Gleeson Brothers,Morley,Rayhihi,Readon,Westwood,Bridge,Grix and Clarke but when you look at who they have recruited and it all spells good times are comming for the Wolves and their supportters,Louis Anderson a mobile hard tough runner for the forward pack,Fa'Afili is gone but is replaced by the ex Manly try scoring machine in Chris Hicks and is followed to Warrington by Micheal Monaghan from Manly who was the real reason with Wathmough behind Manlys great form last season and the year before and is a very hard working playmaker and Matt King who without doubt is one of the best centres that Australia has ever produced, not bad for an ex Rubbish Man,but I really believe that the Wolves have a top class side and will remin competitive for the entrie season and could get the lead and hang onto it,I'm getting sore so thats enough for now,but I will kep talking about them as the season progresses...Take Warrington at a small stake to win the Regular season in the SL fro 2008.

So just to recap here...
