WC U20, Division I, Group A

I thought a lot about what will i play here and will i play at all, and then i decided to give it a shot with over.

This is situation on table:

1. Germany W4-w0-l0-L0 36:3

2. Austria W4-w0-l0-L0 33:5

3. Norway W2-w0-l0-L2 8:14

This match is decisive on who will promote and take gold in this group. I don't expect surprise here as Germans are hosts and should have more quality here, but as Austrians showed that they can play on high level and score a lot, i think over is a much better bet here.

First thing that comes to mind when you want to bet over is that both teams should be able to score. There isn't too much doubt about it here as both teams are among the most efficient, not only in this division, but also on all world championship (excluding elite group off course). Let's have a look at their games till now:

Germans won 7:1 twice (Norway and Lithuania), they've beaten Poles 11:0, and Ukrainians managed to score once so it was 11:1. Germans conceded in almost every match a goal, Austrians should be able to score a bit more, especially if they play open as expected.

Austrians so far were a bit less efficient, and they've also conceded a bit more. Still, they went under margin of 6,5 only once, in their one way match with Norway (which should be much more equal, Norwegians even didn't score). Austrians also beaten Poland 6:1, and as tournament went to its end, Austrians played better. First they managed to turn 1:4 deficit in the begining of third period against Ukraine in incredible 7:4 win! That's six goals in one period!! Yes, it is. After that they've "destroyed" Lithuania with 15:0.

So, both teams showed that they can score, but their defense couldn't show anything as they've faced weaker opposition. Now, first time on this tournament, they will play against almost an equal opponent (as Germany should be a bit better then Austria, but you can't really tell), and we should see how will they react to strong attack from other side (i'm talking about both teams here). Germany has strong forwards, Mauer, Hager, Krumisch, Weiss... While Austrians are lead by Villacher duo Raffl-Toff, then Oberkofler, Fischer... really strong line-ups and i think that we will see plenty of goals. If one team will have its day, then only one team could go over this margin (as already showed in their games so far). Even if someone starts to play defensive (Austria maybe), if they get to few goals deficit they will have to open, and then we should see more goals. If Austria plays like in last period against Ukraine then we should see over halfway through the game.
