Premiership - Birmingham vs Portsmouth Football betting preview

I have decided to have a pop here on Pompey as i think there is defiently some value to be had here.

I had seen both of these sides in action in the last round and although Pompey were perhaps not at their best, they showed me in the 1st 25 minutes of the game with Man City that they are a very capable side and one that should get a win at ST Andrews on saturday afternoon.

Despite the 0-0 draw against Man City, Pompey have certainly created the better chances on the day and within the first 20 minutes really could and probably should have been 2 goals to nil up. They had hit the woodwork on a couple of occasions over the course of the 90 minutes.

For me, most importantly whilst looking at this fixture is that i really do fancy Portsmouh to get the better of the midfield battle. Diop in the middle is very physical and he will be winning his fair share of 50-50 balls and with Muntari and Utaka, im sure they will be getting the better in these areas. Perhaps they play abit to narrow, but im sure that Johnson and probably Hreidarsson will be getting forward at every chance. Benjani should also win his fair share against this Birmingham defence of Ridgwell and Djourou. During Birminghams lose to villa, they were pretty poor in the middle of the park i think and just hadn't created enough there although admitidly, Portsmouth will have to keep an eye on De Ridder and Kapo in wide areas but im sure they can cope with that and for sure Campbell and Distin should be able to deal with Forsell up front.
