Rangers have been the surprise package in Group E of the Champions League. Winning away at Lyon 3-0 where many didnt give them a chance and at home to Stuttgart 2-1 was just the start to this European campaign Rangers fans had been dreaming for. Then a 0-0 draw at home against group favourites Barcelona and they have given themselves a really good chance to progress to the knockout stages of this years competition.

Tonight they face Barcelona in the return leg at the Nou Camp and surely Rangers will be delighted with a draw. That would see them joint top still with Barca and then a home win or draw would as good as see them qualify. I think they will play a tight game tonight and look for a 0-0. They will harass the Barca team all over the pitch and close down at every opportunity, playing on the break and never over committing on attack.

Barcelona's record at home in La Liga this season is as formidable as ever. Played 6, Won 6, Goals for 17, Goals against 3. They beat Lyon 3-0 in their only Champions League match at home this season to date. They have struggled away from home and leaked goals but have 3 clean sheets on the run at home.

Rangers have a fairly mediocre away record in the SPL having won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 of their 5 away games. And this is against the likes of Inverness CT, Hearts, Kilmarnock, Dundee Utd and Motherwell. A world away from Barcelona. I cant see them attacking to much tonight. Walter Smith will send out the meassage to protect their own goal and if they do he will think job done.

Both teams look in decent shape team news wise and I think Rangers will really struggle to score tonight. But it might not be that straight forward for Barca to break down a resolute defending Rangers team either. As long as both teams dont hit the onion bag tonight - we win.
