Tottenham is one of the biggest disappointments so far this season. They are underperforming so far and after this pretty bad start of the season compared with the expectations, their manager Jol is under pressure. Tottenham is currently on 18th position, with only 7 points. Main reason for this placement in their bad performances in the defensive part of the game, which is excused a bit because of many injured players in this part of the field. Tottenham is without a win in their away matches, with 3 draws and two defeats, from Manchester United and Sunderland, in their first two away matches and then they drew their last three.

Newcastle with Allardyce improved the leaking in the defense from the past few seasons and made Newcastle strong home side, once again, like he did with Bolton. But, compared with Bolton, Newcastle has a log bigger support and much better players, which makes Newcastle tough opponent for every team. They are having pretty good home record with 3-1-0 and 7:3 goal difference.

Tottenham played pretty well against Liverpool in their previous trip and they deserved to leave the Anfield with a win, but they were unlucky and conceded a late equalizer that took them two points from big favorite Liverpool. Newcastle played against Everton at home in previous match and they were much better opponent and the scoreline of 3:2 is not showing the real proportion of the strengths on that match. Newcastle should score even more and they conceded a lucky second goal. Despite pretty good performance by Tottenham against Liverpool, I believe that if Newcastle is playing like they did against Everton, that they will not have bigger troubles winning this match.

Tottenham defense is leaking a lot and is pretty slow, and with Owen – Martins partnership they will have enormous troubles keeping the pace that they will dictate. With the absence of their first keeper Robinson, although not in best form this season, Newcastle will score, I believe. Tottenham will be without Gardner, Lennon, King and Rocha once again, and Newcastle is without, Babayaro, Ramage, Carr, (not important), Duff (long term) and Smith (who can be well replaced by Barton who is fit to make his first appearance for Newcastle).

Newcastle won 8 of last 11 matches that these teams played on St. James Park and many of the meetings between these teams ended with many goals, not only when Newcastle was host team. I also think that we will see goals on this match. I also expect Newcastle to show their class and with the troubles that Spurs are having in their defensive line, and with Owen and Martins combined in the attack, maybe the fastest attack line in the world at the moment, I expect Tottenham defense to struggle a lot.
