Watford had won 4 in their 5 league games this season and is already displaying their credentials for promotion. It is still early days of course. Nonetheless, they have shown they are a good side in almost every game so far, even in their 4-0 defeat against Leicester; they were not all that poor really. It was a matter of Leicester playing particularly well rather than Watford being poor I felt. Their last match against Southampton was exhilarating to say the least, securing a comeback win and looking sharp going forward. Cardiff has not garnered any points at home yet. They cannot be underestimated however, having secured a draw away to Plymouth thanks to Thompson. It is still a concern with Jimmy not firing on all cylinders for them and also the possible exclusion of Fowler in this tie. Furthermore, Watford had not lost in these 2 sides’ previous 5 meetings. This is should be a close fight between 2 promotion contenders but I have to fancy the more prolific Watford to take their chance and to snatch a narrow win here or at the very least get a point to top the Championship table this midweek.
