Short preview. Nancy is having some really great form at the moment… and despite having some numerous injuries, they still managed to defeat Auxerre convincingly last week. They are strong at home so far this season… and naturally, playing at Stade Marcel Picot will give them a major advantage. Another advantage they will have is that they did not play in midweek… unlike their visitors St Etienne. St Etienne did well in midweek when they defeat Strasbourg… but their form away from home is questionable. There will be no Feindouno and Diawara in this match… and I doubt relying on Ilan alone will be sufficient to deliver the goods. In fact, the two goals scored against Strasbourg in midweek were a penalty and an own goal. In other words, I can’t really see where the goals will be coming from if Nancy manages to hold out Ilan. Now, in terms of H2H records, both teams are pretty level… but for this round, Nancy will hold the upper hand… mentally, form and physically… and they should be able to edge out a win in this match.
