Will Harry Kewell start Liverpools opening game?

Betdirect do not seem to think so, they offer 4/1 (5.0) against it happening. The true odds in my opinion are nearer EVS (2.0) and i will explain why.

Harry Kewell is a winger who can play on either flank and has played up front as well in the past but not for Liverpool. Last season Kewell made two league appearances, both fromt he bench.

Bolo Zenden and Mark Gonzalez have both left Anfield in the summer and the only new player to threaten Kewell is Babel. There has to be a good chance Babel will be a sub for that opening game to let him ssavour the atmosphere and clear any nerves he may have, maybe getting a run out in the last 15 minutes

At the time of writing it does not look like Gabriel Heinze will sign in time which would mean John Arne Riise will play at left back allowing Harry Kewell to start on the left hand side of midfield.

Granted he may get injured between now and the start of the season and he has suffered an injury blighted career but then there is a chance of injuries preventing Babel or Riise making the opening day too.

The odds are really far too big, i am not saying its a certainty by any means, just that it is a value pick and the odds are far too big. The bet can be found under Liverpool Specials.
