Alberto Contador showed everyone what an amazing climber he is on stage 8 without putting in a top 5 finish. He covered just about every move only to suffer a mechanical failure and fall back into the chase group.
Not content with that he attacked, blasted off the front and made up some time. It was an impressive and intimidating display.
Haimar Zubeldia is a good climber himself but he does not have Contadors acceleration or aspirations. Contador is a big favourite to win this and the odds back that up. I am not normally one to take such short odds on a H2H but Contador just looks different class and has to be supported.
There must be a good chance he could attack tomorrow and blow the whole tour apart never mind Haimar Zubeldia!
