What a difference a year makes. This time last year we made a huge profit lumping on the Ferraris who were a class apart and they delivered us the expected 1-2. This year its the McLarens looking dominant altho not to the same extent as we saw last year.

The Ferrari looks so off form that i think we can sensibly oppose them for a number of reasons.

1. As we saw in Monaco the Ferrari is not suited to twisty circuits. Indianapolis is a horrible F1 circuit due to the pointless infield section. Its fair to expect them to not be very competitive here.

2. They were behind both the McLarens in practice today and Alonso actually set the 2nd and 3rd fastest times on old tyres.

3. The Ferrari just seems to be off the pace of the McLaren in qualifying trim and race trim.

With Fernando Alonsos nose being put clearly out of joint by Lewis Hamiltons maiden win and the resulting press attention he will be very keen to show who the man is at McLaren and at Indy. Also worth noting Lewis has never driven a car around Indy learning the circuit on a playstation.

I expect a Alonso - Hamilton 1-2 in that order and its worth a bet on that very result altho ladbrokes will offer you 2.63 on a McLaren 1-2 in either order which is tempting. However i'll stick with Fernando to win.
