Canadian Grand Prix

For me it is clear that this race looks a nigh on certainty to be a McLaren 1-2. The two Mclarens have been a class apart all weekend and there is not a car in the field to get near them.

Lewis Hamilton drove a good lap to secure his first pole, so much so it forced Alonso into a mistake in the last chicane. However its worth remembering Alonso had fastest sectors in the first 2 parts of the lap.

Fernando has had the upper hand over Lewis for most of this year. The fact they are tied on points owes much to Lewis Hamilton making up places off the start line and Alonsos 1st lap incident which shuffled him backwards a few races ago.

Much has been made about how Hamilton was not allowed to win the last race. He would never have passed Alonso if they raced all day. Does anyone recall the race where Nigel Mansell in the dominant Williams punctured with a few laps to go allowing Ayrton Senna to take the lead? Despite having a miles faster car and brand new tyres Mansell could not pass Senna.

Dont get me wrong Lewis Hamilton has shown allready what an amazing talent he is. However he has still not shown the ability to pump in a really fast series of laps when he has to.

I forsee Alonso passing him in the pit lane. His experience with cold tyres on the out lap and the ability he has to put in some blisteringly fast laps when he has to is what has made him a 2 time World Champion. This is going to be what makes the difference.

The soft tyres dont wok here very well which could mean a very short stint.

What will most likely happen is they will be allowed to race until after that last stop and then be forced to stay in formation.

Have you noticed how close Lewis Hamilton gets to the "wall of champions"? Dont be too suprised if Lewis adds his name to the list of famous casualties. He is overdue a mistake and it may come today.

So for me a small bet on another Fernando Alonso win.
