I looked at this match a day or two ago and decided on some decent looking bets, I've held off waiting for all the bookies to price up the markets I've been looking at, and see this one as the "best" bet of the night.
I was initially surprised to see such long odds on a Sheffield Wed away win as a look at the recent form of these teams would definately favour the Away team.
West Brom: Last 5 Home: W1 D1 L3 GF6 GA9 (2nd WORST in the league for last 5 home record)
Sheff Wed: LAat 5 Away: W3 D1 L1 GF10 GA8 (2nd BEST in the league for last 5 Away record)
But West Brom have the 4th best home record in the division (The dest until recently) so you can kinda see where the short porice for the home win comes from.
I've had a nibble on the away win at 5.5 on Betfair as that price is too big. But its the scoring capabilities of these two teams that has me more interested....
Its no surprise to see the Over 2.5 Goals market priced up at around 1.80-1.85 as these two score goals by the bucketfull. But there is no value in that so I'm leaving that one alone. But goals is the way forward in this one I reckon.
West Brom.... Have failed to score only ONCE at home all season (21 games), have failed to Score only ONCE in their last 23 home and away league games !! They average 2.09 goals per game at home, and are ranked 1st in the league for overall goals scored (71). They have Kamara on 22 and Philips on 16 goals for the season.
You dont need to be too clever to say they will probably score tonight. They do however conceed goals too......
They have conceded in each of their last 8 home and away games (13 goals), and in 7 of their last 8 home games. They are ranked only 12th in the league for goals against. Their season so far has been based on scoring more goals than the opposition. And 5 games ago they lost their very highly rated central defender Curtis Davies for the rest of the season with a broken foot.
Sheff Wed.....Have the 3rd best away record in the league, (W9 D5 L7 GF31 GA28), they average 1.33 goals per away game and they are in a rich vein of form. Unbeaten in their last 9 games, they have scored in each of their last 14. In fact, thay have only failed to score TWICE in their last 23 games!! Since October 20th, they have scored in every away game except one. 4 of their players are in double figures for goals this season, McLean (12), Burton (11), Brunt (10) and Tudgay (10).
Team news sees 17 goal striker Kevin Philips return to the West Brom squad, as Wednesday manager Brian Laws must decide who to play up front with in-form trio Steve MacLean, Deon Burton and Leon Clarke all vying for two starting places.
In summary, there is goals on the cards tonight, but there is no value in the Over 2.5, or the Both teams to score markets. I do think there is significant value on Sheff Wednesday to score though as I price this more around the 1.4 mark. 1.67 is therefore very good value from Sporting Odds and I'm going in full stakes !!!!!
Good luck......
