Sofia Arvidsson vs Urszula Radwanska

Sofia Arvidsson is having, without any doubt, the very best season till now in her professional career. She had more than decent form at hard court at the beginning of the season, winning the title in Memphis. She didn’t have good start at clay court season, at least not till this tournament. She started clay court season in Acapulco, where she lost in second round to Pennetta. Furthermore, she started European series with a tournament in Madrid, where he lost in the first round to McHale, week later she won in the first round of Rome against Martinez Sanchez in two sets, losing to Cirstea in second round. Finally, the Swede won in first round here against Peng, while Arantxa Rus retired to her yesterday after a 6-2 3-1 result.
Urszula Radwanska, on the other side, is still struggling to make the progress at WTA level as she still doesn’t have good enough ranking to enter the tournaments without having to play qualifying rounds. Her season wasn’t any good till now, as this is her first tournament where she passed the second round. Her clay court season wasn’t any better also, as she was losing in the first rounds against Hradecka and Bertens. Having failed to get victories at WTA level, she switched to ITF touenaments where she lost twice in the second rounds, this time to Czink and Baltacha, both times in two sets. However, she had much more luck at this tournament coming from qualifying rounds to beat Lepchenko in the first round in two. Yesterday, she was better than Marion Bartoli 6-4 6-2. But this win is just a simply reflection of Bartoli’s awful game as she nine double faults, allowing eleven break points to Radwanska. Bartoli is playing in awful form this Spring and her loss against much weaker player is no surprise at this moment.
Odds are based on Radwanska’s win over Bartoli yesterday, where in fact Bartoli was the only one responsible for the “surprising” outcome of the match. The Swede is much more experienced and played in way better form this season. She also won already against Radwanska this season, in Fed Cup on hard court, leaving only three games to her opponent.
