Samantha Stosur vs Sara Errani

Samantha Stosur made  a great progress at French Open once again. She made five almost perfect matches, without losing a single set. Her season wasn’t that good till now, as she only had finals of Doha (on hard court), where she lost to Victoria Azarenka in two sets. Her clay court season wasn’t magnificent till now either, as she was losing to Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Lucie Hradecka and Venus Williams, prior the very end of the tournaments. However, she showed much better performance here as she won over Baltacha, Falconi, Petrova, Stephens and Cibulkova. The Australian is feeling great here and for sure she is expecting now at least to repeat her success from 2010, when she lost in the finals against Francesca Schiavone.

Sara Errani, on the other side, is playing in magnificent form this season at clay. She has only three losses on clay and twenty three wins till now. She started her clay court season with a win at Acapulco tournament where she won over Pennetta in three sets. Her European season at clay started in the same fashion as she won Barcelona Open without losing a single set (on her way to the title winning over great names as Kerber, Cibulkova, Suarez Navarro…). Later on, she won Budapest tournament which wasn’t that strong by it’s lineup, but it’s still a good achievement. After that tournament she slipped down a bit in her form, losing to Radwanska and Stosur in second rounds of Madrid and Rome, but she bounced back with much better performances here. Firstly she struggled in first round over Dellacqua having to play three sets, then she won easily over Oudin and then, struggled a bit once again against Ana Ivanovic losing the first set. Since that first set, she started playing incredible tennis winning the next two, but also winning against Kuznetsova and Kerber in two.

Although it’s a semifinals everything is pointing out in a slight advantage of the Australian. Still, the odds are set in a one sided fashion, at least for me and I much bigger chances for the Italian to take at least one set here.
