Minella vs Hradecka

Mandy Minella played mostly ITF tournaments till now in her career and it must be said that she did there pretty good. However, WTA tournaments are something totally different and it’s still to be seen how will she react on it, although her first results are not that positive and struggle is still to come. After the end of hard court part in Australia/Asia, Minella played the finals of ITF tournament in Cali, Colombia. When the European part of the clay court season started, Mandy tried to switch to WTA tournaments but till now with no bigger success. Mandy won in first round of Fes to Alexandra Panova, but lost in second round to Medina Garrigues. Later on, she lost in first round of Budapest, winning only two games against Errani, 6-1 and 6-1. Week later, she lost in the first round of ITF tournament in France, losing to Foretz Gacon. Also, she lost here in the final qualifying round, but earned the placed as a lucky looser.

Lucie Hradecka, on the other side, is coming from a great performance in Madrid where she reached semi finals to Serena Williams. as said, great tournament is behind her and she now has a perfect chance to get some more wins at much weaker tournament. Lucie came from the qualifying rounds in Madrid and defeated Peng, Kvitova, Makarova and Stosur prior to losing to Serena. Although she has the game to be very good hard court player too, it looks like she is playing the best tennis on clay court as she also made some great runs last season at clay, such as Barcelona finals last Spring. She was struggling a bit before Madrid Open losing to some much weaker players, but now when she showed great stability winning over Kvitova, Makarova and Stosur in three, there is no doubt that she came improve her game even more and start playing with much bigger confidence.

Hradecka already won once against Minella, 6-2 6-3. It was in Prague last season where Hradecka took the title. She is playing once again in a very good form and there is no reason to doubt that she can build up on her performance from Madrid in continue playing well.
