Mchale vs Cibulkova

Christina McHale made several pretty decent results this year, which pushed her to the 36th number in the World, but she will have to work much more to progress further. As said, several decent pushed her up, those results were made at hard court tournaments staring with third round of Australian Open where she lost to Jelena Jankovic, quarter-finals of Doha where she lost to Radwanska and fourth round of Indian Wells (German Kerber was better than her in three). As any other American, clay court is not her favorite surface and isn’t a surface where we could see her best tennis. She played in Charleston, but lost in first round to Wozniak in three. After that, she lost in second round of Madrid to Stosur, beating in first Arvidsson. Finally, last week in Rome she was better than Niculescu, but lost to Sharapova 7-5, 7-5.

Dominika Cibulkova, on the other side, finished previous year with a won tournament in Moscow, but was unable to find her game at hard court tournaments at the beginning of the season as she earned just five wins during that period. However, as soon as the clay court tournaments started, she improved her game a lot and made through the finals of Barcelona in the first week of European clay court tournaments. After that success (where she lost to Italian Errani in two), she lost in Stuttgart to Amanmuradova in three and in Madrid to Vinci, in two sets. Last week, she played in Rome and was better than Lucic and Knapp in first two rounds. Viktoria Azarenka withdrew from the third round and the Slovakian lost in quarter finals to Na Li 6-1 7-6.

Cibulkova is having way better season at clay court and is much more experienced at this surface. These two players met once till now and the Slovakian won that match in three. There is no reason to doubt that she is much, much nearer to the victory in this match up too.
