Division A: Otelul vs Vointa

Romanian league 24th round kicks off with the game between Otelul Galati and Vointa Sibiu.

Otelul Galati are the former champions, but struggling this season, standing just on 6th place, 14 points behind leaders CFR Cluj. Their second part of the season has been pathetic so far, having 1-2-1 in four games. Their last “performance” was a 0-2 at leaders Cluj, managing to get exactly 0 shots on goal in that game. There have been rumors about them giving up this h2h, as they lost 0-4 at home in the autumn, which absolutely nobody would expect, and now 0-2 without even trying against a team that is not in any considerable form. Moving on from that, Otelul at home have a 5-5-1 record with a very tight 8-6 GD. Only three teams managed to score on their ground, including Dinamo Bucharest two rounds ago, Otelul failing to beat them with an extra player for 50 minutes. Another coincidence maybe, or maybe not.

Vointa Sibiu are trying to survive this season, currently standing on 13th spot, two points above the line. Some of the teams below them are having a great second part of the season so there is a big pressure on them to get some points. This hasn’t been really productive in the second part of the season, where they are 1-2-1, failing to score in three out of four games played. Vointa are 2-3-6 on travels and they will go to Galati in search of a point and probably another 0-0, similarly as they managed to get against Targu Mures and Pandurii. In both games they were lucky not to concede, but their lack of firepower is evident at the same time.

Both teams are struggling, of course at different levels. Still, Otelul’s midfield is under performing badly in this spring and they don’t have a real striker, so i guess they will try to get another narrow win by dominating the possession. Vointa Sibiu know that it’s unrealistic to try attacking in this game, so they will sit back and defend, maybe to score from a loose counter or a set piece. I think we shall see a boring 0-0 at half time and maybe a 1-0 win for hosts late in the game. Otelul managed to keep it 0-0 at Cluj until the 74th minute, so i still believe in their defensive skills. Therefore, i will take under 2 goals @ 1.82 with PinnacleSports. Good luck.
