Premier League: Tottenham v Newcastle
Tottenham Hotspur are hosting Newcastle United in Barclay’s Premier League this Saturday at White Hart Lane in a game between two of the most surprising teams of this season. Tottenham have a really good shot at reaching the Champion’s League, standing on 3rd place at the moment, 8 points above 5th Newcastle, 10 above Arsenal and 11 above Liverpool. Considering their recent form and a rather constant display game after game, i would say that they are heavy favorites. Manager Harry Redknapp had a very hard month after being involved in a trial, but he was declared not guilty yesterday and it could not have been a better timing for this. England manager Fabio Capello resigned as manger because of the “Terry as captain” scandal and most experts believe Tottenham’s manager is next in line to grab that position. The Spurs are coming off a 0-0 at Anfield against Liverpool, but that was a very hard game and returning at White Hart Lane should provide Tottenham with the much needed edge over fellow revelation Newcastle.
Tottenham had some injury problems last two weeks, but things are looking better ahead of this game. Rafel van der Vaart is set to return as a starter, while also important defender Kaboul will also start. Jermaine Defoe and Aaron Lennon are training at the moment, but they are a doubt for Saturday. Long term injuries are Bentley, Gallas, Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas. Adebayor has not shined in the recent weeks, but along with Bale and Van der Vaart, it should be more than enough to get at least a goal against Newcastle.
The Toffees have seen the return of top striker Demba Ba from ACN and he was once again crucial in the victory over Aston Villa of the last round. Ameobi, R. and S. Taylor, Best, Marveaux will surely be missing though, but except for Ameobi they will not matter that much. Newcastle at home are very tight and dangerous, but in travels they open up more spaces and have conceded 19 goals in 12 games. Defeats against Fulham 2-5 and Liverpool 1-3 have shown that they can be hurt by an attacking team, but their scoring power cannot be neglected.
Tottenham grabbed one point at St. James’ Park in a very entertaining match which ended 2-2. The scorers were V.der Vaart and Jenas for the Hotspurs, while Ba and Ameobi scored for Newcastle. This game will be entertaining for sure and i really think Newcastle will not play very defensively and should also net a goal. Still, Tottenham are stronger and are playing at home, so i think we can expect a 2-1 or 3-1 score for this clash. Since the odds for home win are too low at about 1.5 and the over 2.5 is also priced at just 1.65-1.7, i recommend grabbing a Home Win + Over 2.5 bet as the one offered by Bet365 at 2.1 odds. It covers several possible scorelines. Good luck.
