Premier League: Liverpool v Newcastle
Liverpool awaits this match in a really big mess, as they are not performing as expected and are only sixth on the table with 14 points already below league leaders Manchester City. In last four home games, they have only one win and it was a narrow 1:0 win over QPR, while they have drawn against Swansea, Manchester City and most 1:1 draw against Blackburn three days ago. Before that game, they also made draw, goalless this time, against Wigan. Now, without Suarez and with Gerard starting from the bench, they can’t hope for much better performance against significantly better opponent then Wigan or QPR are. Hosts will miss Luis Suarez who serves a one match suspension from English FA, while Steven Gerard is very likely to start the match from the bench as he had to put up with two months leg injury.
Newcatle, on the other hand, had pretty inconsistent month, but after a series of poor results they bounced back with a 2:0 win on the road against Bolton. Guests are only one point below their today’s opponents and with a 4-3-2 away record, they are one of the better performers on the road. Coming into this game, they know that Liverpool is very dangerous opponent, but also that they can get the positive result here with proper approach to the game. Demba Ba will be available for this game, despite suffering a knock to his knee in a game against Bolton, played four days ago. Davide Santon has recovered from an injury, while Dan Gosling is back after serving a three match suspension which means that the guests will have full roster available for this encounter.
Although the Reds have very good tradition against Newcastle, the situation is completely different as Pool is out of form and look completely clueless in attacking phase of the game. Newcastle will surely be happy with a draw and low number of the goal is also expected here. Odds are too good on away side to be missed, teams are much more equal right now then the paper and odds suggest.
