Norwegian Cup: Odd Grenland vs Haugesund

Odd Grenland had a bad game away to Molde last week, where they easily lost with the score of 3-1. They tried for the draw, but the evolution of the game was not to their side, and after losing with two goals difference to the half time, there was too little things to do to turnover the game. Molde sealed the victory with a third goal, while Odd Grenland took the opportunity to reduce the score at the end. With this defeat Odd Grenland is in 13th place with 13 points, one just above relegation zone, but with a game less than others, at home against Valerenga next Wednesday, where they will need only the victory to avoid relegation battle, even temporarily, as the league has a long way yet. However, tonight’s game is not the easiest game for them, as Haugesund is a very aggressive team and always plays to win, home or away. There is some trouble to Odd Grenland, as they can’t find last year’s good performances, where they were close to reach Europa League exit. Main defenders Lars Kristian Eriksen and Morten Fevang (captain) are both out.
Haugesund is coming after a draw away to Tromso (1-1), where they played below their potential, and managed to go away only with the point against a full defensive Tromso, and stayed in third position of the league standings with 24 points. They did not made their known performance and against a conservative Tromso, a draw is not a bad result anyway. They are now five points below the top two, and two points above fourth Rosenborg, and seems that the battle for the first trio will continue until the end of the season. Maybe their task is a little difficult tonight, but there is optimism for qualifying to the fifth round of the cup. The climate is very good for Haugesund, despite losing two points against Tromso, but the third place fills them with confidence and certainty. For tonight’s game defender Vegard Skjerve, midfielder Trygve Nygaard and midfielder Tor Arne Andreassen are all out for different reasons.
Haugesund is playing some pro football this season, having only one defeat at the season’s first game where they played with ten men, and they are seeking a good game tonight to progress to the next round. They have good goalscorers, but some missing in defense, while Odd Grenland is having problem to keep any clean sheet, so we should expect an open game there with more than two goals to be scored.
