Toronto Raptors vs New York Knicks
Knicks will seek their sixth consecutive victory overall and the seventh one in eight recent games against Raptors. Knicks suddenly found a tremendous rate after the resignation of coach Mike D’Antoni and the hire of Mike Woodson. On five consecutive victories achieved since then they scored 105.2 points per game, while important is their defensive improvement, allowing just 86.6 points on average to their opponents. Defense was the key to the victory of 82-79 yesterday against Sixers. With such form and performances I am sure that they can beat any opponent at this time. Knicks won against Raptors on Tuesday in New York with the score of 106-87, and will meet tonight in Toronto, where they won all their last three visits there, with differences averaging 8.3 points. Knicks will miss sub PF Jared Jeffries while sub SF Bill Walker is still out.
Raptors are not in good condition. They count three successive defeats and the most recent was on Wednesday with the score of 94-82 against Bulls at Toronto. Bulls were missing Derrick Rose because of injury, but Raptors could not exploit it, and allowed them to shoot with 50% in scope. DeMar DeRozan achieved 23 points, but the only one more who had double-digit points was James Johnson who had 16. Andrea Bargnani was again to a bad night and was restricted to eight points with 2/10 shots. He is still not in good condition after the long absence through injury, while the problem facing PG Jerryd Bayless, complicates things for Raptors even more. Bayless who had 14.3 points per game through March, was injured during the game against Knicks, and played a total of just two minutes against Bulls, with his participation in today’s game to be quite doubtful.
