Marseille vs Sochaux
Marseille had to start the season with their goals set much lower then the previous year, as they were in terrible form during Spring and none knew what to expect from the early start this season. As said, they were in terrible form in the second part of the previous season as they had sixteen matches without a single win, reaching almost relegation battle after more than fair first part of the season.
Anyhow, no matter what, their goals aren’t set lower than Champions League position for the domestic league this season. The team has started their season a bit earlier than the rest of French teams, as they had to play Europa League third round of qualifications against the Turkish side Eskisehirspor. French team did what was needed in two legs, getting a 1:1 draw in Turkey and defeating the Turks at home 3:0 with two goals from Ayew and one from Gignac. Season opener in Ligue 1 also went well for them, as they won against Reims on the road by narrow 1:0 result. Although the win was a narrow one, they were much better opponent for whole ninety minutes and the win could have been with bigger margin. Bruno Cheyrou scored the winning goal in 77th minute of the game. Hosts will be once against without central defender Souleymane Diawara, who is long term injured from the previous season.

Sochaux, on the other side, started the season with home loss to newly promoted Bastia with a 2:3 result. Although they took the early lead in thirteen minute with a goal from Privat, it wasn’t enough for them as they were completely outplayed in the second half-time and every 1:0 lead at the half-time didn’t help them.
Three goals Bastia managed to score in a row and Sochaux was only able to make the defeat less terrible with a late goal from Boubai. Guests didn’t play anything special, but the hosts showed great vulnerability in front of their own goal and it’s something what they will have to improve sooner rather than later, otherwise they might run into early problems. Striker Edouard Butin and right back Frederic Duplus are unavailable for this game.
After successfully passing Eskisehirspor and win on the road against Reims, Marseille will surely look to win easily against Sochaux as they surely have the quality to do so, but also have to re-establish trust from their own fans due terrible second part of last season. They looked much better in the first round that Sochaux and everything but their comfortable win will be a surprise here.
