Khazar Lenkoran vs Lech Poznan

Khazar Lenkoran is one of the prodigy teams in Azerbaijan, they were founded in 2004, but took the title of domestic championship already three years later and earned the reputation of one of the best teams in Azerbaijan in previous several years. Khazar eliminated Estonian side Nomme Kalju in the first round, although they played only 2:2 at home in the first leg, but played much better in the second leg and won 2:0 away. Azeri team was actually much better in the first leg too, but the final justice was done in second leg in Estonia. Although Khazar have no bigger upsets in Europe and their league is still not very reputable in comparison to other leagues, the league is improving every year and quite a few teams, including Lenkoran are having budgets that can be compared to budgets of mediocre/better teams in Poland for example.

Lech Poznan, on the other side, also had to play in first round of Europa League where they faced up against Zhetysu from Kazakhstan. The Polish side won 2:0 at home and drew 1:1 on the road. It is no wonder that the Polish side didn’t get two victories, most of the Polish clubs are facing up with a bit of financial problems, not big ones, but still they are unable to continue having very big budgets and to significantly improve on their current squad with players from abroad. Lech is no exception as they had to sell Rudnevs, who was a main striker last season, to Hamburg, while offensive midfielder Sergey Krivets was sold to Chinese Jiangsy. In addition to these two, the club is entering this season without Wojtowiak right defender who signed for Munchen, while Stilic playmaker and Injac defensive midfielder didn’t want to renew the contract. With so many good players who left the club and no bigger signings in this transfer period, this team is simply much worse than the previous season.
Lech had big problems eliminating other Azerbaijani team recently as they needed penalties against Inter Baku, Lenkoran is surely not weaker than their previous opponent from Kazakhstan and we should see similar game here. Low number of goals is expected with Lech probably being pretty satisfied with a draw too.
