Leganes vs Malaga
Leganes is not looking bad at the moment, since the team suffered only one defeat in last four (away to Valencia, plus having two victories and a draw), coming from a 1:1 draw away from home against Sevilla last weekend. They made a great start into the match and took the lead already in third minute with a goal from Gabriel, while the hosts replied just before the halftime whistle via Jovetic.
Players of Sevilla remained with much more of the ball possession in the second halftime, however without making significant chances in front of opponents goal and the visiting side was awarded in the end for their fighting spirit and rock solid defense. Leganes is now just a position above the relegation zone, but having six points more than relegating placed Granada, but knowing that they can’t rest much.
Leganes should be playing in 4-2-3-1 formation with Guerrero as central striker, plus Szymanowski, Pires and Zhar as offensive midfielders. Offensive midfielder Robert Ibanez (5/2) remains injured, same as goalkeeper Serantes who anyway didn’t perform. Doubtful is offensive player OMar Ramos (15/0), while Diego Rico returns from suspension at the position of left full back.
Malaga, on the other side, comes from their fourth consecutive defeat last weekend as the team welcomed Alaves and stood surprisingly defeated with a 1:2 result. However, must be said that the home players had more chances created and more of the ball possession, but the players of Alaves looked really smart on the field and were threatening a lot via counter attacks.
They took the lead first in 39th minute via Feddal, while the hosts spent the second halftime with ball possession and trying to equalize, what finally happened in 71st via Carlos and just when they pressed more for the second goal, visitors broke their defense once again, in first minute of additional time via Mendez for the final victory. The team is in obvious downtrend in their form as they have only one victory in last fourteen matches in LaLiga. They are now position above Leganes, having seven more than relegating worried Granada.
Visitors from Malaga will be lined up in their usual 4-2-3-1 formation with Dias as their number nine and central striker, but also with the offensive help from Ramirez, Fornals and Castro. Defensive midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic (4/0) is injured, same as midfielder Recio (9/0) and central back Bakary Kone (7/0).
- Malaga have failed to win their last 17 away matches (La Liga).
Draw can’t be excluded here and is actually quite likely, but if one of the teams is to celebrate, that would probably be Leganes in my eyes. Malaga is not inspiring with confidence and didn’t look better under new coach Michel, so I give slight advantage to the home side here.
