EURO 2012: Poland vs Russia

In their first game against Greek national team, it was obvious that the player from Poland national team can’t play at very high level for whole 90 minutes, actually they played only first half at the very good level. As said, they had a upper hand in the first half over the Greek national team, but they lost their strenght in second half time and at one point, it must be said that they were very lucky to take even one point as the Greeks missed the penalty kick. Now, after a failure to win all three points and after the Russian performance where they clearly showed that they are the team to beat in this group, the Polish side is expected to take much more defensive approach for this game. Russia, on the other hand, performed very well in their first match against Czech Republic as they have won 4:1. They easily got into 2:0 lead then the game lost it’s tempo a bit, but when they have received their first goal, they once against started playing much better, especially in offensive part of their game and the Czechs simply couldn’t do much better than a 1:4 defeat. Russians clearly showed that they know how to defense, but also that they know how to easily turn the ball from defense to attack and to easily transform their game to attacking one, being very dangerous on counter attacks. They already have 3 points while other two teams have only one, they are surely going for a win here, but still having in mind that the draw is also an option here for them as nothing would be lost then.

Still, the Russian side looks like much better on the paper and from what we saw from these two sides in the first round. Simply, the Polish side shouldn’t be good enough to cope with the Russians for the whole ninety minutes.
