EURO 2012: Holland vs Denmark

Just like the Germans, Holland also made a great result in their qualifying group and were one of the first nations to secure their spot at EURO 2012. For a team of their level, their group wasn’t that tough as the biggest opponents were the Swedish, than Hungary, Finland and Moldova. They had all wins, with the except of one game – the last game they played when they lost to Sweden 3:2 away from their home, in a game that meant nothing to them. Denmark, on the other side, reached the EURO 2012 being in much worse position, at least for them, as they had to play in quite tough group with Portugal being the strong favorite and Norway, Cyprus and Iceland being quite strong teams in group too. However, they beat all the odds and finished the group in front of Portuguese as they had a great run at the end of the qualification round, finishing the road with a 2:1 home win over Portugal. Two friendly matches they played last Autumn, when they defeated 2:0 Sweden and 2:1 Finland, both matches played at home. They also played two friendly matches this May, as they lost to Brazil 1:3 and have won over Australia 2:0 seven days ago.

The Dutch are favorites to win this game, but not as strong as the odds suggest. They already showed some weaknesses in their match against Bulgaria and Nordic nations have never been easy to play football against. The Dutch will surely be the one with more creativity here, but their defensive line-up is not trustful at all, at least not in the first game and the odds are real value in this case.
