David Goffin vs Jesse Levine

David Goffin impressed everyone with his performance at French Open as he came practically out of nowhere and reached fourth round. Till then he was just another challenger player, younger than most of them, but wasn’t showing big signs that he can step into the top50 anytime soon, or anything like that. However, he entered main draw of Roland Garros as lucky loser, but took that opportunity and won over Stepanek and Clement both in five, while Kubot was defeated in three straight sets. In fourth round he had simply much better opponent, but still he was handling quite good for the most of the game, finally losing to Roger Federer in four sets, although he took the first one and had 5:5 in second. However, that result pushed him into top100 and is currently on 70th position, being very near to places which will guarantee him always ATP tournament playing ticket into the main draws of most of the tournaments. Here at Wimbledon he won over big favorite Bernard Tomic in four sets.

Jesse Levine, on the other hand, is still trying to make his way to ATP level, but without any success so far. Although he is playing better on challenger tournaments than in recent years, that’s still not good enough to reach the desired level. He is playing rarely on ATP tournaments and whenever he does, he losses in the first round in most of the cases. His only wins at ATP level were in first round of French Open when he won over out-of-form Benjamin Becker and here, at Wimbledon in first round over Karol Beck. Levine also played two challengers on grass court this season, both in Nothingham. At first tournament he lost in second round to Kendrick, while he reached quarter-finals of second tournament losing to Zemlja. Also, he had to play qualifications here, winning over Mannarino, Moriya and Odesnik.
It’s obvious that Goffin is hot favorite to win this match. The odds are too good to be missed simply because David Goffin isn’t established name in ATP world, otherwise looking at everything what they did this season, the odds should be way, way lower.
