Panathinaikos vs Odense
Panathinaikos drew 1-1 to the first game away to Denmark. The “greens” made a good appearance, preceding the score 1-0 with a goal from Leto, and lost opportunities to clean up the game and qualify. Their defense were unsuccessful and accepted the equalizer a little before full time.
The climate is good for Panathinaikos. They presented transformed, in comparison with their disappointing appearances in friendly games during their preparation. Their defense is still a big problem, the image of their defensive line was under mediocre.
Ferreira appeared confident that Panathinaikos will win today, although they qualify with a draw without goals. As he told they will not go for the draw, but will attack from first minute to win.
New additions Quincy (midfielder), Vitolo (defensive midfielder), Zeka (midfielder) are still not ready and left out.
Ferreira expected to line up the team again with 4-1-4-1, having only Petropoulos as the only clear striker.
Odense started the first game against Panathinaikos enthusiastically, however, since not scored in the first 20 minutes, they lost their rhythm. They surprised at the start of the second half when Panathinaikos scored, but in the last minute, after tight pressure they managed to take the draw at 89’min.
Psychology is in good shape and there is optimism that they will score in Athens and looking forward to qualify to the next phase. For their domestic championship last Saturday, they took a 2-2 draw in a difficult location such as that of Aarhus, conceding goals in the last minutes of the match and failed to get the win. Of course, its inception, their performances to the domestic championship till now are very positive, and they are unbeaten to quite difficult games.
Compared with the first game in Denmark, Odense is pleased to again have to their disposal, the main striker Morten Skoubo and key player Kalilou Traore. This means that their roster will be complete and full in tonight’s match.
Panathinaikos showed a bad defensive image to their friendlies and to the first game in Denmark. Having in mind that Odense needs a goal and will not stay back, there is lot of possibilities that the game will go wrong.
