Bundesliga: Wolfsburg vs Freiburg
Wolfsburg didn’t impress at the beginning of the second part as many of people expected cause they improve their squad a lot during winter transfer period, but the players need more time to get together, settle in and start playing as expected. After a 1:0 narrow win over Koln at home, they failed to score in last two matches as they lost to Bayern 0:2 on the road and were held to goalless draw at home against Monchengladbach in quite a bad game. As said, they didn’t impress, but still they played against two out of four best teams in this year’s Bundesliga meaning that they had more then tough schedule. Hosts will miss many players, but they have adequate deep squad to replace any missings. Midfielder, mainly defensive, Jan Polak is out, just as central defender Madlung and attacking midfielder Vieirinha.
Freiburg, on the other side, is sitting at the bottom of the table and will have really hard time surviving in first tier of German football this year. They have only 17 points, three less then Hertha which is on safe position. That is not a lot, but looking to Freiburg form and especially their individual quality, it will be hard to see them surviving. Especially weak they have been on the road as they have earned only five points til now and winning only one game in nine matches. They are coming after a 2:2 important draw at home against Werder which was second positive result in a row at home for them (they already have won against Augsburg in first round of second part). But, as said, the biggest problem remains their awful displays on the road. Guests will be without Krmas who is central defender, Schuster defensive midfielder, Mujdza right back as they are all injured, while Garra Dembele is still on African Cup of Nations.
Having in mind that Wolfsburg improved their squad a lot during transfer period they won’t have too much problems replacing their injured players, while Freiburg has more important missings that can’t be replaced. When we add their terrible form on the road, home win looks quite sure here.
