Colorado vs San Francisco

Colorado Rockies host San Francisco Giants at Coors Field in game 2 of 3 in the series. The Rockies won the first game 6-5 and will look to win the series today.

 

*Introduction*

 

- Colorado: Things have been going slow for them lately as they have posted a 1-5 record in their last 6 games. But they are a different team at home where they have won 6 of the last 8. The win over the Giants yesterday showed that there are qualities in the team.

 

- SF Giants: They look better, as they are 15-8 in their last 23 overall. They are also solid on the road where they have won 8 out of their last 10. All in all, they look stable.

 

*Pitchers*

 

- Colorado: Jhoulys Chacin (2-5, 4.50 ERA) will try to win the series for the Rockies. He has been good in his last 3 starts where he has posted a 1-2 record with a 1.17 ERA. I don't feel that he is poor or would struggle a lot here.

 

- SF Giants: Madison Bumgarner (14-10, 3.15 ERA) will try to help his team tie the series. But as for himself, he needs to shape up. He has gone 0-3 and a high 6.48 ERA in his last 3 starts. He is questionable on the road as well, he has a 6-7 3.93 ERA away from home. So to me, he is doubtful.

Most of the statistics are in San Francisco's favor. But the Giants are only 1-4 in their last 5 games as a favorie. While the Rockies are 6-1 in their last 7 games as a home underdog, who also are a solid home team. The Giants pitchers Madison Bumgarner has not impressed me at all in his last appearances and he is a big question mark to me. Chacin has allowed only 1 run in each of his last 4 starts, and he looks more stable right now.

 

Pick: It is tempting to try the Colorado Rockies to a nice odds, but I will go for a more safer bet since I think this game will be tighter than the bookies suggest. In my opinion, Colorado have decent chances to win here, but I will play a handicap play: Colorado +1.5.
