Twente vs Mlada Boleslav

Twente had to start these qualifying round all the way from the beginning and the first round. Having brought into squad Luc Castaignos, Dusan Tadic and Bulykin and a few more players this summer, they are surely shouldn’t be weaker than last season, although the squad have left Luuk de Jong and Ola John.

Mlada Boleslav, on the other side, had to play from the second qualifying round of Europa League, eliminating Thor Akureyri from Iceland with a 4:0 aggregate score. They did all the job in the first round, winning 3:0 at home against the side from Iceland which was clearly weaker side and a second leg on Iceland was just a matter of procedure.

 

Still, Mlada now awaits much tougher job as they have to play against one of the strongest teams in the third qualifying round. In front of this match, Mlada lost season opened in domestic league as they went 0:1 down to Teplice on the road. However, the biggest worry for them should be several player who will miss this game: central defenders Smejkal and Rolko, midfielders Zahustel, Opiela, Fabian and striker Chramosta and Kulic. The situation is very serious in their squad and they will probably have to play with few players from young team, players that have never played for the senior team before.

 

Even without those players missing, Twente should be a clear favorite here. With such a depleted squad, Mlada Boleslav can’t expect anything positive from this match. On the other side, Twente will surely enter this match very seriously in order to prevent similar story that happened two week ago against Inter Turku.
