Brazil vs Belarus

Brazil earned a 3:2 victory over Egypt in a group opener game, although bigger margin was expected prior to Olympics. Actually, they opened the game very well and took the 3:0 lead even before the half-time, but then suddenly stopped playing in the same manner and the Egyptians who were willing to fight till the last minute, finally scored two goals and deservedly came out as narrow losers only.

Egyptians didn’t create lot of chances, but have scored twice and although none wanted to admit it in Brazilian team, their defense is not at the highest level, while selfishness of a few players – especially Neymar (who looked like he played some other game, some his own game) – is something that can cost the team in later stages of the tournament. Belarus, on the other side, came to Olympics with one goal – to reach the second stage of the competition. Being in a group with “weaker sides” as Egypt and New Zealand are – their goal is possible. With a first round win over New Zealand 1:0, they are much closer to fulfill their target, but will still have to give their best in next two matches.



They hardly managed to win their first match as the game looked really slow, but at least positive thing for them in front of the match against such a strong team is, that they looked very solid in defense. Belarus has six players from Bate Borisov and this is another positive thing for them, as they are already looking like a team, club team. Their coach prefers defensive approach as he uses 4-5-1 formation mostly.



Under described circumstances it’s really hard to see Brazil performing much better after just three days. They are favorites, but the odds are not representing reality in this case as Belarus won’t surely allow too much space for the Brazililians.
