Spain vs Italy

Spain entered this EURO 2012, cruising in a group together with Scotland, Czechs and Lithuania as strongest opponents. The Spanish team made a perfect run as they have won all of their eight qualifying match, not slipping down either once. After the qualifying stage, they lost in a friendly game against England on the road by a narrow 0:1 and drew against Costa Rica 2:2. This year they had three friendly matches starting with a 2:0 win over Serbia (without players from Barcelona and Bilbao as they had a Copa del Rey final game just days ago), then beating South Korea 4:1 and finally, the Chinese national team with a narrow 1:0.

Italy, on the other hand, were also the first in their qualifying round, where Estonia, Slovenia, Serbia and Northern Ireland were their strongest opponents. After that, they played with Poland a friendly game in Poland, where they have won 2:0. Later on, just few days later they have lost to Uruguay by a narrow 0:1. Italians had only one friendly game before this EURO, losing to Russia 0:3. Their game was terrible for the most of the match, playing without any creative ideas up front, but even so they managed to get two goal scoring chances. On the other hand, the Russians were a bit lucky to get away with such a big victory, as the result could easily be a bit better for the Italians who however made awful mistakes during the game.



Italians looked simply awful in their recent game, they have problems in their defensive line up as Barzagli has some problems, while Chiellini isn’t fit either, while their attackers aren’t in superb form. Italy will most probably be defending for the most of the game here and with defensive lineup they have at disposal and having in mind mistakes they did just several days ago, they could be easily overwritten here after a half-time.
