Poland vs Greece

Euro 2012 will have its start on Friday, with the opening game between Poland and Greece. Group A is one of the weakest of all groups with none of the teams being a true force and all the games among them should be some very balanced ones, since their quality is more or less equal, with not much to offer from neither of those sides.

 

Poland and Greece are quite similar sides, without too many skilled individuals in there. Except Obraniak and Ninis, both teams rely on hard working players, and I see them quite clearly trying to annihilate each other. This is the first game of the group, the tournament opener and a state of tension will surely be felt on both sides. Usually, in this type of encounters, none of the team is taking too many risks. The first game of a tournament is mainly treated like a game not to lose instead of a must win game.

 

Greece showed a great defense during the qualies, conceding only 5 goals and they look really hard to be broken down. Poland doesn’t have a great offensive power, even if Lewandowski is on fire for BVB, the NT is just a different cup of tea.

 

I see this as a tensioned hard fought affair, and more than 1-2 goals here should really be something special. Therefore, a bet on under looks like the logical choice.
