Monaco vs Raonic

Juan Monaco had quite a comfortable journey to third round as he won over Ruffin in four sets and over Lukas Rosol in three sets in second round. The Argentinian had a great start of clay court season as he won Vina Del Mar Open back in February. Later on, he also won Houston tournament on American soil, winning over Isner in the finals. Only two days later he had to play in Monte Carlo in the first round against Haase, match that he finally retired due to knee injury. He had to rest a little and skipped tournaments in Barcelona and Madrid, getting back with tournament in Rome where he won over Stepanek and Ungur, but lost in three hard fought sets to Djokovic.

 

Milos Raonic, on the other side, started well this clay court season with a semifinals in Barcelona, although he previously lost in first round of Monte Carlo to Albert Montanes. On his way to the semifinals, he won over names like Andreev, Almagro and Murray, but lost in two sets to David Ferrer. After Barcelona, he didn’t play that well, as he lost in second round of Madrid to Federer, beating Nalbandian previously. Later on, Florian Mayer was better than him in the first round of Rome Masters. Here in Paris, he won against Hidalgo and Levine in two easy sets.

 

Monaco is much more experienced at Roland Garros, this match might be pretty close to equal one, but having in mind that Monaco is experienced clay court player and that Raonic didn’t have any remarkable result in last couple of weeks, I’m willing to take Monaco here as I rate him at least slight favorite in this match up.
