Shamrock vs Cork City FC

Despite only recording one win in their last six matches Shamrock Rovers are rightfully rock solid favourites for this home game against Cork.

 

Rovers were crushed by table-topping Sligo 3-0 and only managed to draw with bottom side Monaghan but that form should be considered a blip rather than a serious change as Sligo are the best team in the league and the Monaghan match came only 3 days after Shamrock won 3-1 at home versus Drogheda (a side higher in the rankings than Cork City).

 

With frontman Gary Twigg scoring 8 goals in the club's last 6 home matches, Shamrock have a lethal asset who is likely to find the net against Cork. The side from the capital should not fear their rivals from the west who, away from home, pose no real - having picked up one victory and only scored three goals all season.

 

Seeing as we expect a routine win I would like to be a little more adventurous with the bet - staking a medium 5pts on the combination of a home win and hitman Twigg to score anytime at much greater odds of 2.3 (the home win is a mere 1.53). Rather than risk 10pts at very short odds I'd be inclined to go with the Twigg anytime wincast. Rovers are likely to win and when they do Gary Twigg usually finds the net, this game should be no different.
