Berrer vs Devilder

Michael Berrer won in first round against Jurgen Melzer, coming from two sets down and finally winning in fifth set with a 6-3 result. The German lost opening two sets with pretty tight score (6-7, 4-6), but simply continued to play his game and Jurgen started making a lot of mistakes and unforced errors which finally gave a great result for the German winning next three sets 6–2, 6-2, 6-3. Michael also had to play Qualifying rounds here, winning over Jouan, Olivetti and Martin, all in two straight sets. Before Roland Garros, he didn’t have very good season, especially not at clay court as he lost in first rounds to Andreev, Haas and Hanescu, winning only over Tobias Kamke. He is switching between ATP and challenger tournaments, but still knows to impress from time to time. The German is defending third round here, as he won over Raonic and Clement last season, losing to Andy Murray in third round.



Nicolas Devilder, on the other hand, is fighting with his age mixed with many injuries and result of these fights is that he simply can’t establish his name at ATP level anymore. He is currently ranked at 286th position in the World, prefers to play at clay courts and most of his good results are coming from the slowest surface. He had a great start (for a player of his ranking) at the beginning of the clay court season as he reached finals of Casablanca challenger losing to Bedene in three. After that final, he didn’t impress losing twice to Delbonis, Crivoi, Mecir and Guez – names that cannot be even compared to Michael Berrer.



There is huge difference between these two players, odds are based on the facts that Devilder is a home player here and that he won very than easily in the first round. Berrer simply has much better results in last season, plays more frequently at ATP level and there is no reason not to trust him here.
