Serra vs Lopez

Florent Serra is struggling this season to make some progress at ATP level, but all his efforts seems to be in vain, at least till now. Not only that, but it seems that he is very near to switch to Challengers level only, not by his will, but because of his poor ranking. He played only three ATP tournaments this year, of course without any positive results, while he also didn’t impress on Challengers level either. Clay court was his favorite surface till now, but he didn’t manage to get some improvement their either. Tried to reach main draw in Casablanca, but lost to Ouahab, switched to Challengers and lost in quarterfinals of Rome to Hajek, later on lost to Kuznetsov in second round of Challenger in Napoli, while Zeballos defeated him in first round of Tunis Challenger. Finally, he tried one week ago in Bordeaux, where he was better than Paire, but lost to Matosevic 6-0, 6-1. Here in Paris, he won over de Voest, Alex Kuznetsov and Alund.

 

Feliciano Lopez, on the other side, is not having his best season at slowest surface, but still he should be good enough to beat players like Serra is in first rounds. Spaniard started his clay court season with tournament in Houston where he reached semifinals losing to Isner in three. Later on, he lost to Wawrinka in first round of Monte Carlo, but bounced back with good display in Barcelona where he reached quarterfinals losing to Ferrer in three sets. Munich Open was also very good for him as he reached semi-finals winning over Tomic and Stakhovsky, losing to Kohlschreiber in three. Last two tournaments the Spaniard had to finish in first round as he lost to Melzer and Grannolers.

 

No matter how discouraging last two matches of Feliciano could be, he is still world class player comparing to Serra who had rather easy draw reached the main draw here.
