Wawrinka vs Tipsarevic

Stanislas Wawrinka won the first round struggling in three sets against the Dutch Robin Haase, 6-1 4-6 7-5. The third set was pretty equal with the Swiss breaking strong server Haase in the eleventh game. That win came just a few days after he lost in the third round of the Madrid Open to Novak Djokovic in two sets. The Serbian didn’t play good tennis in Madrid and it was a great chance for Stan to make much better result as it looked like the surface there suited more to him, but in the end he lost it quite easily. The thing that he lost it easily to Novak and that he had to play three sets against Haase who isn’t a player for clay at all, leaves impression that Wawrinka is in quite a downtrend right now and that he might be getting out of form.

 

Janko Tipsarevic, on the other side, is exactly the man who won over Novak Djokovic in next round. It was a win in style, as he won over World number 1 7-6, 6-3. After that win, Janko lost to Federer in two, but the Swiss is pretty much at the top of his tennis and it was more than expected loss for him. However, the Serbian must be morale boosted with a very good result for him in Madrid and he surely expects to get a few wins here too and improve his ranking, as he is currently placed as eight number at ATP rankings. Improvement in his game is obvious, as he also won in Madrid over Simon, the same player he lost two weeks before.

 

These two players already met once with the Serbian winning in three sets in Marseille, eight years ago at Hard court. Wawrinka is obviously slipping in his form and this is a great chance for Janko to win once again and continue his good form at more than good odds.
