Gent vs Genk

Gent lost away against Standard Liege with the score of 2-1, and lost third place. Now their objective is to hold 4th place that leads them to compete for Europa League with new playoff games against the winner of playoffs II (Cercle Brugges or Mons). This can be done if they will win or draw in today’s match, even if Standard Liege will win away to Anderlecht. Forward Tim smolders injured to the match against Standard Liege and will sit out, while winger Yassine El Ghanassy completed cards and will stay out too. The good news are that main forward Elimane Coulibaly is back to the squad. Gent will be lined up with 4-3-3, and the offensive trio will be Zlatan Ljubijankic, Christian Bruls and Mboyo.

 

Genk received a defeat in the home game against Club Brugge with the score of 1-2, losing all chances they had for Champions League qualifiers exit. The only positive for them is that they ensured the third place, that means that they will play Europa League football next season, and have nothing to play for today. The bad news for Genk is that they will deploy lot of changes in today’s game, as there are several injury problems. Leader midfielder Kevin De Bruyne (8 goals, 14 assists), key midfielder David Hubert, midfielder Fabien Camus, main right-midfielder Anthony Vanden Borre, experienced midfielder Thomas Buffel (8 goals), main defender Torben Joneleit, while Daniel Tozser, and main striker and top scorer Jelle Vossen (20 goals) are both doubtfull.

 

A great chance for Gent to push for Europa League football, as Genk has nothing to play for and travelled there with many problems.
