Philadelphia vs New Jersey

The Flyers are on the verge of dropping out of this seasons NHl playoffs, it doesn’t help that their leading scorer Claude Giroux who is also the top goal scorer in this season’s playoffs is out in this crucial Game 5.

 

The Flyers are in real trouble in this series, they’ve lost their best scorer and even with him they have run straight into a brick wall that is the Devils defence but more notably their offence. The normally defensive minded Devils are all of a sudden a scoring juggernaut and to get by the Flyers tonight they need more of the same.

 

To date in these 4 games the only game the Flyers had more shots on Goal than the Devils was in Game 1, a game they won 3-4, but since that game the Devils have outshot the Flyers 109-70 and in Game 4 of this series the Devils won 4-2 out shooting the Flyers by 43-22 just over twice the amount of shots the Flyers attempted, both sides power plays and penalty killing are about even but the Devils appear to be a team with confidence and will be looking to close this series out tonight.

 

The Devils are 6-4 in their last 10 against the Flyers and have won 3 of their last 5 against the Flyers on their home ice also the Flyers are just 1-14 all-time in series when trailing 3-1. Their only win was the 2010 Eastern Conference Semi-finals against the Boston Bruins, when they rallied from a 3-0 series deficit to win.

 

This game is huge for the Flyers and Devils but with the absence of Giroux, Martin Brodeur in the net for the Devils and the Flyers losing the last 3 games straight this game has almost become mission impossible, the Flyers are still a great team who have performed well this season but just like the Bruins who after the All Star break started to lose games so did this Flyers side and it would not surprise me at all if just like the Bruins the Flyers were early losers in this seasons NHL finals.
