Minnesota vs LA Angels

This is the first game this season between these two teams, they didn’t start the season like we all expected. LA Angels are not playing well, despite their good lineup and great pitchers. They lost at home series against Kansas City Royals. Even in first game, the result was 0-0 until the end of the game and it could be 0-3 for them to the season. After three games against Kansas City Roylas they are going on other side of the country to Minnesota.

Minnesota Twins lost all three games in Baltimore, but they are not that bad team. They have some good players in the lineup and I think they shouldn’t be such a dog at home today. Minnesota Twins will start with Nick Blackburn, who is just an average pitcher, but in the past he showed us, that he likes to play against favorites. Minnesota is 5-0 against favorites, when they start with Blackburn on the mound. And Minnesota Twins is 10-4 in last 14 home games as a dog, when Blackburn was starting pitcher. On other side we have CJ Wilson, very good pitcher, who finished last season with 2.94 and he had a nice spring training, but he has bad record against Minnesota Twins. In his career against Minnesota Twins, he is just 2-2 and with ERA 6.67 (whip 1.694). In last game against Minnesota he pitched only 4 innings, where he allowed 6 runs. He had a very good run support in Texas, I highly doubt, that he will have same run support here. In fact, LA Angels are still not playing at their best and I see chance for Minnesota to grab first win as a home dog in 2012.

 

Reason for pick: It is start of the season and it is still to early for bookmakers to set the right odds. Dogs are 24-23 this season and every team is looking for first win. LA Angels are not playing the best baseball at the moment, they couldn’t beat average pitchers at home against Kansas. They are now -160 favorite on the road against the team, who will try to win first game. I think +150 is way to much on Minnesota Twins.
