Brest vs Lille

Brest is doing worse and worse lately. In their 5 last games they have 4 defeats and 1 draw, all against intermediate teams. If they cant win Sochaux and Caen, how will they do with better teams like Lille and S.Ettiene and Rennes coming? They are very close to the relegation zone, having only 2 goals during their last 5 games. They used to have a nice defense, which is now in doubts too. They don’t have more than 1 goal/game during their last 14 games. Their basic stopper Zebina will be absent. They also have 5 basic absences for the game against Lille.

 

Lille is probably doing better than they thought this year, being 4 points away from the top. They have 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat (by Lyon) in their last 5 games. If they win today, they get closer to the top and in the Champions League zone. There are 8 games to the end of the league and in Lille they want to stay focused until the end. The striker Roux (4 goals – bought by Brest) will not play today due to an oral (!) agreement between the two clubs, but the player is in the today’s squad! Stoppers Segou and Basa are absent, as well as midfielder Balmont. However the striker Hazard (14 goals) is in top form playing as a free-player in a 4-2-3-1 formation and will be the top gun for today too. Nevertheless, Lille’s manager is keep saying that the club is interested to secure the 3rd place of the league (followed by Lyon in -6 points).

 

This won’t be an easy game, but the chances are with Lille in an away win at 1.80 odds, between two teams with 14-places of difference in the league! Of course Brest will fight to stay out of the relegation zone, but they had their chances with easier opponents than Lille and they blew it, now it wont be easy at all.. The form, the quality and the strength are towards a Lille win and that’s what they deserve.
